What do we do?
The project is based on three main pillars: (1) the use of genetic barcoding techniques to characterize and protect island biodiversity, (2) building local capacity in key field, laboratory, and curatorial techniques to open new job opportunities for locals, and (3) quantifying the impacts of the project approach for the well-being of individuals and society.
How do we do it?
Developing sustainable links between science, eco-tourism, and population resilience through the application of a new work model that includes training and employment of locals.
Why do we do it?
To build a more equitable, sustainable, and resilient future on Galapagos by increasing knowledge of natural biodiversity while enhancing community participation.
